Hope she's happy somewhere. She probably looks nothing like she did when she was making loops and appearing in magazines, and is glad nobody recognizes her.

The Internet sources that have picked up the "died in 2008" story...well, that's the Internet. No fact checking. No real research. Somebody decides a "Linda McDowell" who died is THE Linda McDowell, because the age seems right.

Linda was appearing in men's mags circa 1972 in California, and making loops. At that time, the Linda McDowell who died in 2008 was happily married in Iowa and running her own business, which she continued to run for 35 years. She was leading a double-life posing for Nugget and screwing John Holmes?

Here's her obit:

Linda I. McDowell, 57, of Delhi, Iowa, died of cancer on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at her home.

Private family services will be Friday, July 18, 2008 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Manchester. Burial will be in the Forrestville Cemetery, rural Dundee.

Linda was born June 18, 1951 in Manchester. She was the youngest child of Peter A. and Irene A. (Braun) Lahr. She attended school in Delhi and Manchester. She was united in marriage to Robert W. ?RW? McDowell on July 4, 1970 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester. For over 35 years, RW and Linda owned and operated RW McDowell Truck and Auto Repair and A-1 Storage Service, Inc. in Manchester. Linda was employed at Exide Battery in Manchester for several years before retiring in 2001 to spend more time with her granddaughter.

Linda enjoyed spending time swimming and boating with family and friends at their lake home in Delhi. She spent much time laughing and working with her family. She always looked forward to the weekly lunches with her sisters and brothers. Her granddaughter, Julia, was the light of her life and Linda was a faithful attendee to many of Julia?s activities. Her family was very important to her and will be remembered for the love she showed them.
